Link Logistics is actively seeking Director, Business Development professionals to help grow our transportation and logistics services.

While many sales professionals have a primary mode they specialize in — such as International Freight (Ocean & Air), Drayage, or Domestic Truckload — our commercial team is built around delivering complete supply chain solutions.

While each sales representative may naturally focus on a primary mode, all sales professionals are expected to actively cross-sell the full portfolio of Link Logistics services based on customer needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new business opportunities with shippers, importers, exporters, and logistics decision makers

  • Build long-term customer relationships through consultative selling

  • Identify supply chain challenges and position Link Logistics solutions

  • Participate in customer RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and bid opportunities

  • Present logistics solutions and pricing strategies to customers

  • Work closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure service execution

  • Grow existing accounts by expanding into additional transportation modes

  • Maintain market insight on freight trends, capacity, and supply chain development

Support & Resources

Our sales professionals are supported by a strong internal structure designed to help them win business and deliver exceptional customer service.

Operational Sales Support – Sales Directors receive strategic support for pricing, bids, and complex solutions:

  • International Freight
    • Supported by our SVP of International and International Partners. Overtime when your book of business supports the growth we can hire an assistant to help orgranize the complexity of international quotes

  • Drayage
    • Supported by our Director of Drayage and Director of Container Management

  • Domestic Truckload
    • Supported by our Director of National Accounts and Director of Operations

This team assists with:

  • RFQs / RFPs / Bids

  • Strategic pricing and solution design

  • Spot quoting and operational alignment

Customer Operations Support

Each account is supported by a dedicated Account Manager / Customer Operations specialist who manages day-to-day execution, including:

  • Shipment workflow coordination

  • Tracking and tracing

  • Proactive daily customer updates

  • Customer email communication

  • Operational follow-through

This allows you to stay focused on building relationships, growing accounts, and developing new opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation sales preferred

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to identify and close new business opportunities

  • Comfortable presenting solutions and negotiating with customers

  • Understanding of transportation markets and supply chain operations

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement selling strategies and techniques to pursue new and existing business opportunities
  • Effectively manage the growth of revenue, profit, and volume of existing customers.  Provide customers with exceptional service and communication
  • Maintain a positive customer relationship through identifying needs, effectively negotiating rates, and service issue resolutions
  • Build a positive working relationship with Link Logistics management and operations team
  • Actively participate in customers requests for bids/requests for pricing
  • Ability to identify and obtain new business through prospecting, networking, and cold calling
  • Appointment scheduling and load booking

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 1 year of sales experience
  • Track record of prospecting/cold calling
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to type a business email

Prefered Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, logistics or supply chain
  • Experience in trucking, dispatch, freight brokerage, logistics sales

Job Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain carrier relationships throughout the United States and Canada, organized by region(s)
  • Leverage carrier relationships to service existing business
  • Critical thinking and quick acting in order to resolve problems in real time as they arise
  • Consistent contact with carriers to increase Link Logistics capacity potential
  • Acquire feedback from carriers to provide sales and management team with current market trends
  • Strategic sourcing for potential business in both the dedicated and spot markets
  • Maintain revenue and profit streams throughout seasonal swings in the market.

Requirements

  • Comfortability in a high energy, fast-paced start-up environment
  • At least 1-year experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, carrier sales, freight brokerage, or 3PL
  • Team oriented individual who thrives on co-opetition and personal growth
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written to a wide range of individuals
  • Multitasking
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Marketing
  • Candidates without a college degree will be considered based on experience.
